Cahaya Pertiwi Rehersal Night
(Hafiz and Fae, fighting over the Crackers)
The Brunei Darussalam Student Society will be holding a cultural day tomorrow at the Colchester Avenue UWIC campus in conjuction with the 25th Silver Jubilee National Day of Brunei Darussalam. The theme for the day will be "Cahaya Pertiwi" where it will include several cultural and musical performances, a 3 course Malay cuisine luncheon, lucky draws and a play titled " Who wants to be a Bruneian Millionaire." There will also be a charity booth where you can donate clothes and money for the victims of Gaza.
I drop by the Colchester UWIC campus earlier to view the rehersals and preparations for the event. I took part in the cultural day performance 3 years ago and we had lots of fun then, but tomorrow I'll just be there as a guest and improving my indoor photogrpahy skills. I still remember how we spent the whole night from 6pm in the evening till 4-5am the next day perfecting our performances and making the props. Those were the days. I'll post up some pictures during that performance soon.

Accidental Purchase
(Sigma 24-70mm F2.8)
The Sigma 24-70mm was part of my wishlist for quite sometime now and I was already planning to get it sometime in the next month or so(tunggu elaun keluar lah). I was taking a break from doing my projects, so decided to browse through Ebay. I found out that a seller was selling his Sigma 24-70mm for a "Buy It Now" price of 275 GBP and to think of it, it was quite cheap since the lens cost between 300-400 GBP in the camera shops here in Cardiff and plus it was free next day delivery.
But, below the "Buy It Now" option, there was a "Make an Offer" option. So, curious that I was I decided to make an offer of 250 GBP and within 2 hours of that offer, the seller agreed to let the lens go for the offered price. Rather than not paying for the item and get a bad feedback review, I decided to go for it and pay for the lens plus I was going to get anyway. I've just tested it and it is superb!

Got a Pound coin?
(picture taken during a trip to Barcelona in 2007)
Found this article on Yahoo. Anyone planning on travelling soon? Better get your Pound coin ready, Ryanair, one of the cheapest airlines might start charging their passengers for using the toilets while in mid air.

MADPaintBall 2K9
I'm back! A long three hour journey from Leicester. Left Cardiff on Friday afternoon and stayed there at my friends house, we left Leicester for Cosford, Wolverhampton at 6am Saturday morning for the big day. It was only an hour and a half from Leicester to the paintball site compare to the 4-5 hour journey from Cardiff. Arrived there at around 7:30am. When we arrived there were already several teams waiting at the drop off. This year I played for Kaizoku. Each teams were assigned a small booth, we settled in as quickly as possible, unpacked all our equipments and gears and we were ready to lock and load! We took a few minutes setting up our markers, filling up the air tanks and testing them out at the firing range.
The tournament started at about 9am right after the team briefings and safety issues were annouced. The tournament went really well and smooth, we won all the preliminary rounds and won the final game against Sheffield Siege. It was quite a long battle, quite a defensive team but in the end we put our hearts into it and finished off the remaining opponents on the field. I did bring my camera but wasn't really in the mood for taking photos as I was already hyped up from the game and I still am. Before the prize giving ceremony, we had a massive battle where all the players were rounded up and put into two groups of 50 each. Paintball Brawl! That was a fun experience, I got shot from all different places but I was lucky and I managed to shoot quite a few number of players at a very long range. Overall, I really needed this weekend off, I'm not 100% stress free but it's a start and now I can start off my assignments with a fresh and a clear , unclouded mind. (More photos soon)

MADPaintball 2009!! Are You Ready!?
5 days left till MADPaintball 2009!!! I'll be heading off to Leicester this Friday and from there travel to Cosford, Wolverhampton the next day for the tournament. It's been 1 year since I last played paintball and I'm really exicted for this tournament plus I really need to blow off some steam because of all the stress these past weeks. On the day of the tournament, before the prize giving ceromony, there will be a big battle, which I'm really looking forward to. Two teams consisting of up to 70 to 80 players each will battle each other on the field It's going to be a blood bath!! A massacre!!
I've just tested my paintball marker and everything still seems to be working properly, maybe a few minor adjustments here and there.

Studio Printing
"Stress!!"
I mean't to post these photos up yesterday but I was too tired. Spent the whole day in school yesterday printing off my drawings and researching for both dissertation and reports. It's been quite hectic these past weeks with all the deadlines and exam, but it doesn't stop there. I've got a presentation next week and report due on Friday. I haven't had the time yet to play around with my D90 and plus I've still got lots to learn. There will be a cultural event on the 28th of February origanised by the Brunei Darussalam Student Society of Wales (BDSSW) in conjunction with the National Day, I should be free that weekend, might as well drop by take a few photos during the event.
