Scheme Summary
£675 million investment in Cardiff city centre, 967,500 sq ft (89,891 sq m), retail-led mixed-use development to include:- A major John Lewis 4 storey department store of 260,000 sq ft
- Over 100 new stores
- 300 Luxury roof top apartments
- 3000 car parking spaces
- 21 Catering units, including cafes, restaurants and bars of circa 65,000 sq ft
- New public facilities, public art and enhanced public spaces
- Contemporary and relaxing shopping environment with facilities for shopmobility, families and security
- A state-of-the-art Central Library of 55,000 sq ft
- Modernisation and refurbishment of existing St David's Shopping Centre
- Create 4,000 permanent new retail jobs upon completion
- Create 1,000 construction jobs
- Attract more than £250 million of new spending to Cardiff city centre every year
- Establish Cardiff as one of the top retail destinations in Europe
- Proposed date of opening - 2009
